Support Worker
At National Fostering Group, our Support Workers are true champions — they play a vital role in helping foster carers create safe, stable and happy environments for the children and young people in our care. Their support is key to the smooth running of our services, ensuring that families receive compassionate, professional care every step of the way.
What are the key responsibilities of a Support Worker?
As a Support Worker, you will:
- Provide Practical and Emotional Support:
You’ll work closely with foster carers and children, offering hands-on support to help meet day-to-day needs. From assisting with routines to providing emotional encouragement, your role is vital in creating a nurturing and stable environment. - Promote Positive Outcomes:
By building trusting relationships and being a consistent presence, you’ll help foster children feel safe and supported, contributing to their emotional well-being, development and overall progress. - Collaborate with the Team:
Working alongside social workers, carers, therapists and other professionals, you’ll play a key part in delivering care plans that are tailored to each child’s unique needs. Your insights and support help ensure these plans are effective and responsive. - Support Daily Living Skills:
You may help children and young people build essential life skills — such as cooking, hygiene or managing routines — this will empower them to grow in confidence and independence. - Champion Child Well-being:
Your role includes being a positive advocate for the children and young people in our care. You’ll help ensure their voices are heard and their needs are recognised and met with compassion. - Build Strong Relationships:
Trust is at the heart of everything we do. Your ability to form positive, respectful relationships with both children and foster families will be key in ensuring a safe and supportive care experience.
